Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2024/25 school year! I am honored to be the principal of McAuliffe for the third consecutive year. McAuliffe is one of CUSD's alternative schools,  and it has over 50 years of experience with providing a public, progressive education with an emphasis on the value of parent participation in school, and on educating the whole child. This year, we are continuing to focus our efforts on maintaining the spirit of our community, our robust field trip schedule, and our unique blend of academics and specials, such as cooking and gardening -- all of which are made possible in part by the volunteer hours of our parents. Many of our staff members are former McAuliffe parents themselves, which speaks to the strength of our community -- people don't want to leave! McAuliffe is a very special place and we welcome any inquiries you might have. School tours are scheduled primarily in the late fall and the winter months, and are an excellent first step towards learning more about our philosophy in action.
